Elizabeth Knudsen

Elizabeth Knudsen is the manager of Improvement Services and is responsible for managing all aspects of Press Ganey Hospital Services Team 23, which is dedicated to acute facilities of all sizes, primarily located in the northeast region of the United States. Her responsibilities include supervising, mentoring and coaching client improvement managers, as well as monitoring and addressing client issues and concerns. She is a strong proponent of improving the patient experience via process redesign and brings this perspective to her work with her team.

Prior to joining Press Ganey, Knudsen spent more than 26 years in the healthcare industry, working primarily at academic medical centers but also at Neighborhood Health Plan in Boston. She also worked as Business Consulting manager for Arthur Andersen, overseeing reengineering and work redesign engagements in primarily acute care settings. Most recently, she served as the corporate director of Patient-Centered Care at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In this position, she was responsible for management of a team of nine internal consultants, providing guidance, training and leadership on the importance of patient satisfaction. NYP’s implementation of hourly rounding across five campuses was the focus of a 2010 Press Ganey National Conference presentation, in which Knudsen partnered with NYP nursing leadership to discuss the challenges and rewards of sustaining this best practice.

Knudsen obtained her Master of Occupational Therapy from Texas Womans University and her Master of Public Health from Boston University. Interests include clinical microsystems, organizational development and appreciative inquiry as a model for change management. She serves as a parent advocate in the North Shore school system on Long Island, New York.
