Mark Nelson, MD, FACC, MPH

Dr. Mark Nelson, MD, FACC, MPH, is a certified health and business coach for Take Shape for Life, a program that surrounds its clients with the tools they need to reach optimal health.

Dr. Nelson is a board certified internist and cardiologist. He received his bachelor’s degree from New York University, his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University Medical School located in Cleveland, Ohio, and his master’s degree in Public Health from Columbia and Harvard University.

In addition to years of clinical work, Dr. Nelson worked for the Centers for Disease Control and did occupational health and safety work for the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He served as a consultant for the International Medical Program’s video production on Risk Factor Modification and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and served on the planning committee of the New York State American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Women and Heart Disease Physician Education Initiative. 

Dr. Nelson has given many talks on health and wellness. He gave the keynote speech for the 2006 New York State Conference of the New York School Nurses Association, addressing obesity and cardiovascular disease. He also spoke to the statewide conference of the New York State Food Service Worker’s Association on children and obesity and preventing the growing obesity epidemic.
