Martha Griffin, RN, CS, PhD
Martha Griffin, RN, CS, PhD, is the director of Nursing Education and Research at Boston Medical Center and former program coordinator in the Center for Nursing Excellence at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She holds a PhD, master’s degree, bachelor’s degree and diploma in nursing. Currently, Dr. Griffin is a certified adult psychiatric clinical specialist and has been a certified nurse in the operating room as well as the ICU.
Throughout her 30 year career, Dr. Griffin has been a frequent presenter in both academic and clinical settings on a variety of topics including: comprehensive insurance coverage for women’s health care needs, women’s health, workplace violence, lateral violence and integrating newly licensed nurses into an acute care setting. Dr. Griffin has published multiple articles on nurse practice lateral violence. More recently, Dr. Griffin has begun research on building cultures of mutual respect and the patient care necessity for good communication in healthcare teams. In addition to practice, Dr. Griffin is adjunct faculty at Northeastern University’s Bouve College of Health Science, the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Rhode Island.
